The Weekend

After a few exciting days and a small blogging hiatus, I'm back!

I don't work Fridays so I had an extra day to relax, finally unpack in my house for the summer and rest.

Jamila and I took a few nice walks to the Mississippi River and around the neighborhood and went to a pub to watch the US vs. UK game in the World Cup. I'm not really into soccer and the game wasn't very exciting, but it was and interesting experience. After that, we spent the evening babysitting the friends of Jamila's cousins. They were sweet little girls who insisted that we listed to "I'll Make a Man out of You" from Mulan about a thousand times.

This morning I had a practice for my improv show, The Quest. Even though it is improvised, we still need to work on a structure for our theme, a mythical search for a magical object. Everyone else in the cast has a lot more experience than I do and it has been a joy to learn from them and work with them. After that, Jamila and I went to the Saint Paul farmer's market, which was very large and smelled amazing! Lots of flowers, vegetables, incredible! After that, we biked to Lake Street in Minneapolis (about 3 miles away) and had iced tea at Blue Moon Cafe, a local coffeeshop that feels like a neighborhood living room, known for its welcoming community to LGBTQ-identified people. It had nice vibes and was in a new area to explore.

This weekend was busy, in an exciting, fun way, and next week will be no exception. My sister Ariel is graduating from high school on Tuesday (yaay Ari!) so I will be home to celebrate with the family. This is a very wonderful time for my family to celebrate a lot of milestones and I feel very lucky.
